Ultrasound mapping of varicose veins
A complete evaluation of your venous network by ultrasound will be performed.
This involves injecting a solution, called sclerosing agent to the varicose vein with a fine needle. The solution irritates the lining of the vein wall, destroy the blood and cause inflammatory reaction that collapses the vein. The vein will then be reabsorbed.
This technique combines sclerotherapy with ultrasound. The ultrasound provides direct visualization. This technique is usually reserved for the use of larger and deeper veins where direct visualization is a must for safe delivery of medication.
This procedure is an outpatient procedure that removes bulging superficial veins through small, slit-like incisions in the skin.
EVLT (endovenous laser treatment)
This is the advance technology as alternative to surgery. EVLT is a quick, minimally invasive laser procedure done on outpatient base. There is minimal post operative scarring, as it is only laser fiber and a slim sheath that enters the vein via a tiny skin nick. The laser fiber is guided into place using ultrasound and the procedure is performed strictly under local anesthetic – similar to that used by dentist – to numb the treatment area. The treatment generally takes less than an hour.
This cutting edge technology uses a patient friendly safe for the body medical glue to sfaely and effectively close the diseased vein segment. The benefit of the treatment is not using tumescent anesthesia with minimal to no pain during and after treatment.
